I started as a junior member of the Parts team. It was a change from what I did in Fiji but what makes Patterson Cheney great was its ability to take a chance on people.

I was able to learn on the job and with the right attitude, I was able to work my way up.

At the age of 18, I started my Westar journey in the parts team as a junior and I quickly moved my way up to Parts Sales Specialist where I provide support to customers in a fast paced environment.

I love my work, the banter, the culture, and the relationships I have developed with my customers over the years. You get all walks of life come in and tell you great stories.

I highly recommend others to pursue the automotive industry.

I started my career in Westar supporting the Spare Parts team.

Whilst at Westar, I was given exposure to all departments within the dealership and pathways to further my career.

I was fortunate enough to be offered a sales role and am now a Heavy Trucks Sales Executive.

Working in Parts is advantageous as it gives you the skills and knowledge to help sell new trucks. Knowledge is a very powerful selling tool.

I wanted to try something different and the automotive industry never crossed my mind.

I got the opportunity to start in the warehouse but I quickly moved up into the parts team where I now help support the administration.

The automotive industry has changed with the times and I would encourage any females to look at different roles on offer. It’s worth it.
